View this post on Instagram (A day late). This is quite the milestone in our family: For the first time in a dozen years, we no longer have a child under 5!! (insert 👏👏👏) I say that, but these last 5 years of being his parents have been such a unique experience. Unique in that there has hardly been any moment of displeasure/frustration, can't remember any moment we lost patience with him (except he's been the one who wakes up the most at night), hasn't required much effort in discipline…it's like he was born with a mission of spreading that warm & fuzzy feeling wherever he goes. I'm probably jinxing myself, I know 😆 But I do believe it's a combo of his natural pleasant disposition and the VERY hard work we put in raising the girls (esp in their first 5 yrs) to establish a solid family culture of respect, kindness, and responsibilities, with love at the core. He was born into that culture and knew no other. I also remember- this "surprise" baby came at a time when I felt absolutely worst and defeated as a mother. He has been a gift from God to me (and to our family) of renewed hope and grace…and pure joy. To my 5yo boy…I love all the memories we made together…esp the countless giggles. You light up my world- it's never your job to do so- but you truly do. Happy birthday 💙 A post shared by Maria Parry (@booparry) on Sep 16, 2019 at 5:02am PDT
