Review of South Saluda River
35 min from home. Free. Our original plan was to visit Wildcat Wayside, but when we arrived there, I saw how crowded the waterfall area was. So we crossed over to the other side of Hwy 11 and walked a trail along the South Saluda River. It was much less crowded on this side. There were a few families fishing as we walked along the river. We found a spot for our family to test out the water – it was cold! We didn’t have water shoes, so we went in with our bare feet and it was very challenging to walk in the river. Daddy tried to teach the kids how to skip rocks, Peanut and Little Bit tried to walk against the current, MiniLu and Toshi tried to catch tadpoles, Peanut tried to catch a butterfly, etc. We stayed for about an hour and a half, and we could have stayed a lot longer (if we didn’t have to go home for lunch). We all had a blast! We will definitely remember to bring water shoes next time.
